Roofing Options for Commercial Roofs
Get the Right Material for Your Roof Replacement
Eventually, your commercial roofing system will need to be upgraded. Even in the absence of storm damage, a roof will deteriorate, typically within 20-30 years. When it’s time to invest in a roof replacement, you need to find the right material for your roofing system.
While you might assume that you need to replace the roof with the same material that is currently on it, there may be newer materials on the market that would work better for your commercial property. ATD Restoration understands the roofing business, and we can direct you to the perfect roofing material for your needs.
Types of Commercial Roofs
There are many different materials on the market, and each has its pros and cons. Here’s a breakdown of some of the most popular commercial roofing systems:
- Thermoplastic olefin (TPO). This single-ply thermoplastic membrane is available in many different colors. It’s extremely resistant to ultraviolet (UV) rays, heat, wind, dirt and algae. It’s also a highly energy-efficient option for flat roofing.
- Ethylene propylene diene terpolymer (EPDM). EPDM is made from ethylene and propylene, and is a synthetic rubber membrane. It’s very lightweight and one of the least expensive systems to install. It’s leak-resistant.
- Metal. Metal is an extremely durable roofing material that can last for 50 years or more when properly maintained. It’s available in many different colors and textures to match your building.
- Modified bitumen. Made with layers of asphalt mixed with rubber or plastic, modified bitumen is flexible, strong and waterproof. It’s also extremely easy to install and maintain.
